TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — The National Education Association (NEA) ranks Arizona among the worst states for spending on education.
According to the national union, Grand Canyon State ranks 48th in America for spending, spending $9,920 per student.
NEA researchers found that the average teacher salary in Arizona is 44th across the country at $52,157.
As America’s largest white-collar representative, NEA says an income of $52,528 is needed for a family of one adult and one child to have a modest but adequate standard of living in Arizona.
The average teacher salary in Arizona also starts at $40,554. This makes it number 27 in America.
